I have absolutely no idea about technical stuff and so I hope somebody here can help me. I have IPTV by Telekom in my present home in 2 rooms (one 'main receiver' and a 'smaller receiver'). But now I am moving and would like to extend to 4 IPTV connections. In the new apartment I have internet access in any room.
Now the question is whether I simply connect every IPTV receiver directly to the internet and thus does not lay cables through the apartmnent, or whether all of the smaller receivers need to be connected with the main receiver?

So how many STB the Telecom gave you 2 or 4 ? If you get additional receivers I don;t think they'll work as the provider will have to register them.. Not sure how your setup is at home, but one thing is for sure you can;t just buy receivers on your own and plug them and expect it to work..
